Business Manager


Position Summary:

Lotus is searching for a Business Manager.  Accounting  and Operations position is responsible for all financial and administrative activities including monthly closes, journal entries, GL reconciliations and analysis, amortizations, accruals, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, trade/barter, A/P, A/R, credit & collections, budgets, corporate reporting package, day to day HR responsibilities including payroll and employee benefits administration.

This position reports directly to the General Manager and has Corporate Reporting requirements.   Responsible for overseeing various departments within the organization.   The position will provide financial information that will assist the General Manager and Department Heads in making informed economic decisions regarding the business operations and the future direction of the Radio Stations.

The role of the Business Manager is a member of the management team as a strategic business partner, participating in a wide variety of projects including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and evaluating business operations and processes. The position requires a hands-on, organized, self-motivated, and detailed-oriented individual to interface with all levels and meet deadlines.

The purpose of the Business Manager is to support the efforts of the business unit in meeting various deadlines and compliance requirements for daily operations.


Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for all financial activities and full accounting cycle
  • Manage operating and capital budgets
  • Responsible for preparing month-end close including preparing Journal Entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
  • Supervise credit and collections to make sure they are kept current.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and work with departmental heads in planning expenditures.
  • Assist internal and external auditors in performing reviews and audits of accounting records.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the General Manager and General Sales Manager to review sales forecast.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to the Corporate Finance Department.
  • Responsible for processing payroll for assigned market
  • Commission calculations and reconciliation.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles, practices, and internal controls.
  • Strong background in general ledger, AP/AR, and payroll.
  • High Level Proficiency in accounting, excel and Accounting software, preferably MAS500
  • 4-year Accounting or Economics degree preferred (CPA Preferred/MBA a plus).
  • 5-years of hands-on experience with payroll, including wage and hour guidelines.
  • 5+years of accounting experience, Broadcasting background a plus.
  • 5+ years of Supervisory experience is required.

Account Executive

  • Establish and maintain new station advertisers through prospecting and great client service
  • Primary responsibilities will include cold calling, developing new accounts, writing proposals, coordinating commercial copywriting and production and ongoing billing collection.
  • Build relationships and sell radio as a marketing solution to help clients meet their key business challenges.
  • Follows up on sales orders and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ensure sales orders are submitted and processed according to company policies and procedures.
  • Requires visits to client offices and premises.
  • May require client outings to sports and other entertainment events.
  • Provide weekly activity/call reports and other sales reports when required.
  • Be a positive force in the building.


  • High School Diploma is required, an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience B2B/Outside Sales, with a demonstrated track record of meeting aggressive sales goals preferred.  Broadcast sales experience is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of advertising products preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and an enthusiastic self-starter who is able to work effectively in a team environment and also independently.
  • Must have strong presentation skills
  • Must have effective time management skills.
  • Must possess a will to win with the core focus on helping clients while hitting budgets.
  • Deep familiarity with MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred.

Position Summary:

The position of Board Operator supports the Production/Programming Department, which is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the station’s associated computer/software equipment and systems necessary to meet Production/Programming responsibilities; including other duties s as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating the broadcast board for live and taped broadcasts, inclusive of editing, recording and maintaining network feeds.
  • Responsible for protecting the station’s FCC license.
  • Organize and gather feeds, edit, and distribute copies of shows; check logs and trouble shoot technical issues/problems.
  • May be responsible for setting up remote broadcast equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the broadcasting industry within a similar role is preferred
  • NexGen experience required
  • Demonstrate Production abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree is desired, but not required
  • Knowledge in broadcast equipment
  • Adobe Audition experience a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment.
  • This is a service oriented position requiring excellent written and oral communication skills, personable interaction with fellow employees.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • The position may require use of personal and/or company vehicles for travel to sites as necessary.
  • May be required to work other shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Primarily located in an office environment but will require travel to remote sites. Some repetitive motion required.  Ability to climb ladders, step ladders and other necessary equipment.  Ability to work in small spaces and lift up to 50+ pounds.

Position Summary:

The Remote Tech will assist the Promotions Department with client remote broadcasts and station events throughout Northern Nevada.   This is a service oriented position requiring excellent oral communication skills, personable interaction with fellow employees and the public, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive and maintain station vehicles. Station vehicles should be clean and ready for the next remote.
  • Execute technical and physical set-up and breakdown of remote broadcasts and station events and maintain working condition of remote equipment and station vehicles. Assist station Air Talent as needed.
  • Represent the station in a positive, professional manner at client remote broadcasts and station events.
  • Apply positive, professional communication skills with customer service mentality when interacting with co-workers, listeners, clients, etc.
  • Reports to the Promotions Director.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by Programming, Promotions, Sales and General Management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be a motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who is able to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, detail oriented, highly organized, responsive, and excellent at time management.
  • Ability to think quickly with good problem-solving skills while still maintaining safety for you and others.
