INFO: How Not to Go Broke at the Ballpark This Summer

Going to a Major League Baseball game isn’t cheap.  Last season, the average cost for a family of four was over $250.

So if you are planning on going to a game this summer . . . how can you keep the price reasonable enough to maybe even go to two games?

There’s not much you can do about ticket prices . . . other than going to unpopular games, like ones on weekday afternoons, or getting lucky on StubHub.  But there are some things you can do about food.  Here are four tips . . .

1.  Do an all-you-can-eat package.  Lots of teams now have sections of seats that are all-you-can-eat . . . and with the cost of food in the ballpark, the math really works out in your favor.

2.  Go on promotional nights.  Look for things like Dollar Dog Night and other nights with food specials.

3.  Buy off the children’s menu.  If you poke around, you can probably find some food stands with a discount menu or children’s menu.  Even though you’re not a child, you’ll get plenty of food at a more reasonable price.

4.  Bring food from home.  Almost every MLB ballpark allows you to bring in outside food.  Check the team’s website before the game to find the rules, then pack a bag and go crazy.  (Lifehacker)
