WAIT . . . WHAT?: Jimi Hendrix Is Not to Blame for the Parakeet Invasion in the U.K.

For decades, some British folk have blamed JIMI HENDRIX for bringing BLIGHT to their land . . . in the form of PARAKEETS.

Rumor had it that parakeets arrived in the U.K. when Jimi released a pair in London’s Carnaby Street in the ’60s . . . but that myth has been BUSTED.

Researchers recently used geographic profiling . . . a technique primarily used to find crime suspects . . . to analyze parakeet sightings throughout the U.K.

And in their research, they uncovered reported parakeet sightings in Britain dating back to the mid-1800s, which was a long, long time before Jimi Hendrix.

Instead, the researchers believe there were “repeated releases and introductions” that had nothing to do with Jimi . . . particularly in the late 1920s when people might have cut their birds free when everyone was scared of PARROT FEVER.

Parakeets are originally from Africa, and are not native to the rest of the world . . . but they’ve successfully invaded 34 countries on five continents.
